Presentation to District Municipality December 2, 2009

On Decemeber 2nd, 2009, The District of West Kelowna invited all the Resident Associations to present their concerns from their particular area to the council and staff as their continuing effort to listen to the residents of West Kelowna. The following is breif exerpt of some of the items that have worked well in the past.

1. The Glenrosa Residents Association has established a dialogue with a Morningside neighborhood developer putting forward our concerns about certain aspects of the proposed development. We have been able to mutually develop alternatives, which addressed concerns, while not being detrimental to the economic realities of development.

2. Improved co-operation and communication between the school board, the municipality and the community which resulted in materially improving the pedestrian safety around the Glenrosa Elementary School while applying common sense economical solutions.

3. The municipality's handling of the problem of deer/ automotive accidents around the natural migration route on Glenrosa Road just west of Webber Road. Hopefully the signs and additional street lights will give the deer a better chance of surviving the crossing of Glenrosa Road.

4. The ability to e-mail comments or requests to the District has improved communication and response.(e.g.) Several signs were damaged by graffiti and an e-mail brought a quick response and action with Argo sending a crew the next day.

5. Recognizing altruism within the community. It has come to our attention that community spirit is alive in Glenrosa. A private anonymous donor provided funds to replace the outdated playground equipment at Glenrosa Elementary school. A sincere thank you to who ever you are!
